Announcing enhancements to Verizon Digital Media Services’ Uplynk Video Streaming service
Live linear OTT streaming has continued its march as adoption grows from various content rights holders — whether it’s leagues and venues who are looking for additional distribution mechanisms to grow their fan base and directly monetize, or broadcasters expanding their distribution and user experience to IP/OTT and mobile devices.
To help fuel and grow that trend, Verizon Digital Media Services is excited to announce enhancements and new functionality to our Uplynk Video Streaming service as we continue to simplify streaming of linear, live and on-demand video across devices.
Live Events Calendar available now
Visualize your live event list using the new user-friendly and intuitive calendar with daily, weekly and monthly views. The Live Events function currently has a scheduling option using the most intuitive of user interfaces (UI) built into the CMS dashboard: a calendar.
The same filters and conflict alerts from the list view are also available in the calendar.
Live Event Slicer Resource Manager available now
Users can select from a UI-based drop down of a list-based pool of resources when assigning Slicers to events, increasing efficiency and accuracy in content tracking during ingest.
Slicer selection was previously done through free-form text, and now the UI list-based approach provides a more efficient and accurate way to achieve ingest source selection.
High-quality 1080p encoding available late 2017
Coming in Q4, Uplynk Video Streaming service is adding a 1080p encoding profile at up to 60 frames-per-second, along with Dolby Digital Plus audio encoding, allowing surround sound and pristine video quality on large screens. Dolby Digital Plus and 1080p60 are supported for VOD, live and linear streaming.
This feature is applicable to use cases where: 1080p50/60 sources are available, typically interfacing Live Slicers as 3G-SDI; the account has been authorized up to 1080p50/60; and the on-premise Live Slicer is equipped with GPU hardware. With the simplified operation Uplynk Video Streaming service offers, this feature is automatically enabled when the conditions noted above are met.
