Culture and Community at Verizon Digital Media Services: The Helpers Program
Here at Verizon Digital Media Services we encourage our team members to share what ignites their passion both in and out of the office, which is why we’ve created the Helpers program. Helpers gives our employees the opportunity to not only participate in philanthropic causes they’re passionate about, but allows team members to share their interests and encourage others to get involved in a great cause. As we approach Monster Help Day, our day dedicated to global service, we wanted to take the time to look back at all that the Helpers have accomplished since our launch!
Monster Help Day 2016
Verizon Digital Media Services and AOL teams from around the globe united to make a difference. In its inaugural year, our employees volunteered alongside 4,000 AOL employees in 47 cities.
Dulles X-BOTS

Trunk Club clothing drive
Verizon Digital Media Services’ Senior Client Executive Stephen Hall joined forces with Los Angeles’ Trunk Club to give back in style with our first annual clothing drive. Over a dozen bags were collected for the Los Angeles Mission to give hope to those in need.
Food bank drive
Together, our team raised over 700 pounds of food for local food banks to help end poverty in Burlington, Dulles, Lehi, Los Angeles, New York and San Jose. Inspired by the national food bank initiative, the Lehi team took it one step further this past holiday season by joining forces with Community Action to create hygiene kits for impoverished adults and children.
U.K. Jumper Day
The London office sported their tackiest attire to raise money for Save the Children because every child deserves a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn, protection from harm and a future to look forward to. The team hit £235 above their target, reaching a total of £485 (equalling over $626!).
Santa Barbara’s Hillside House
Verizon Digital Media Services’ Regional Director Latin America Jossi Fresco and 11 Helpers headed to Santa Barbara for a Valentine’s Day celebration with the 59 residents of Hillside House, a community dedicated to supporting supports residents’ efforts to maximize their physical, cognitive, social and emotional abilities to attain their highest level of independence.
Downtown Los Angeles Women’s Center
In honor of Women’s History Month, Stephen Hall recruited over 20 Helpers to spend the day with the 70 residents of the Downtown LA Women’s Center, celebrating “Ladies Day,” as Verizon Digital Media Services pampered the ladies with donated accessories, succulents, painting, nail art and a lot of pizza.
Los Angeles Step Up Conference
Our Los Angeles office hosted AOL’s Charitable Foundation, Step Up to mentor and empower 85 underserved youth to help them reach their highest potential in leadership, education, technology and opportunity.
This year’s Monster Help Day will take place on Friday, May 12, where participants in all of our offices will gather to take time out of their day to support several different causes. In addition to Monster Help Day and the Helpers program, full-time employees are allotted two days of volunteer time off per year (three total with Monster Help Day), and AOL will match charitable donations to eligible nonprofit organizations up to $500 for each employee annually.
